The "Jednostka Wojskowa GROM" (JW GROM) is one of the most respected European special forces.

An elite unit of the Polish Armed Forces, it was founded in 1990 following the evacuation of diplomatic personnel during the Lebanon crisis. Today, considered one of Europe's best special forces, GROM is often compared to elite units such as Delta Force, US SEAL Team Six, and the British SAS, with which it has also cooperated.

The name GROM is an acronym for Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno-Manewrowego ("Operational Reaction and Maneuver Group"), but in Polish it also means "lightning", a reference to the special unit's speed and precision.

Since its inception, the GROM has been deployed in numerous international operations, including Haiti, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. It has distinguished itself in counterterrorism, hostage rescue, special reconnaissance, and direct action missions.

Having become an elite NATO unit in just a few decades, the GROM is now synonymous with operational and training excellence.
