MARSOC, acronym for "Marine Forces Special Operations Command": the special forces command of the U.S. Marine Corps, created in 2006, officially incorporated into U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM). The Marine Raiders are one of the most respected operational components in the SOF (United States Special Operations Forces).

The name "Marine Raider" originated during World War II, The Marine Raiders were an assault unit specializing in amphibious raids and raids behind Japanese lines in the Pacific.
